HISTORIC MOVE TO NEW HOSPITAL BEGINS

Wagga Wagga Health Service (WWHS) will begin relocating its staff to the new Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital (WWRRH) tomorrow Wednesday 13 January.

The first staff to be relocated into the new hospital will be office business services or front office staff who will be located on the ground floor. Patients will begin to be moved into the new hospital from Monday 18 January.

Director of Nursing & Midwifery Grant Carey-Ide said the highly anticipated move signalled changes for staff, patients and the community. “The new hospital will offer state-of-the-art care for all of our patients in a much larger environment than what we are used to,” Mr Carey-Ide said.

“We are asking everyone to be patient as we relocate from one building to the other in what will be a controlled move based around patient care and comfort.”

Some of those changes include:
  • From Monday 18 January there will be a temporary entrance for people wanting to visit family and friends in the new hospital which will be via the Edward Street carpark through the old hospital entry near pathology. Follow the signs to the link way to access the new hospital.
  • People wanting to access the Emergency Department after 7am on Monday 18 January need to enter the ED of the new hospital. Please follow the new signage.
