Emergency rescue training

Wednesday 24 July 2019
The tower crane on the Wagga Wagga Health Service (WWHS) Redevelopment Stage 3 site will be the focus of a training exercise by NSW Ambulance and CPB Contractors on Thursday 25 July.

The training will involve a series of simulated scenarios using the upper cabin of the 48.9-metre crane.

NSW Ambulance is the primary agency for vertical rescues in Wagga Wagga, with the tower crane offering paramedics an ideal opportunity to practice emergency procedures from a height in an industrial setting.

This exercise also involves an emergency shutdown by CPB Contractors of the construction site to test and evaluate its emergency processes.

During the training exercise, paramedics will be on the Stage 3 construction site and accessing the upper cabin of the tower crane. There will be a number of NSW Ambulance vehicles near the site on the corner of Edward and Docker streets in Wagga Wagga.

The event will run from approximately 12pm to 4pm.

The NSW Government is investing $431 million into the Wagga Wagga Health Service Redevelopment. CPB Contractors commenced construction of the new Stage 3 building early 2019.

An Anticipated Project Timeline is available here and information about the tower crane is also available here.
