A number of key community health services in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) are temporarily relocating to Peter Street in Wagga Wagga as part of the third stage of the Wagga Wagga Health Service Redevelopment.

Services that are relocating to 19-31 Peter Street include:

  • Aged Care Services
  • Community Care Nursing and the Community Wound Clinic
  • Palliative Care
  • Cardiac and Respiratory Rehabilitation
  • Staff from South West Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service.

In July, the Wagga Wagga Aged Care Services team was the first to relocate from Johnston Street into the new building which will be known as Wagga Wagga Community Care.
Patients will start using the new building today Wednesday 1 August.
The other MLHD services will be joining Aged Care Services in Peter Street in mid-August.

Once the WWHS Redevelopment Stage 3 is complete, these community health services will move into a multi-storey, purpose-built facility adjoining the new Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

The NSW Government has committed $170 million for Stage 3 of the WWHS Redevelopment.

Work continues on site remediation in preparation for the start of construction. A contract for the main construction works is expected to be awarded by the end of 2018.
