Main entry car park closure

There’ll be temporary changes to car parking on the campus from early September due to the WWHS Redevelopment Stage 3 project.

The 1-hour main entry carpark will close from 7am, Monday 7 September 2020 for approximately 6 months.

As a result, the current staff car parking area on the campus’ north end off Edward Street will be changed to 2-hour general use parking.

An evening shuttle bus service will be introduced to take staff on the afternoon shift to their vehicles in streets surrounding the campus.

We understand that this temporary car park closure will impact staff. The temporary closure is required to extend the Stage 3 construction site
to undertake car parking, footpath, paving and landscaping works. As a part of these works, a small number of trucks will use Yabtree Street, Doris Roy Lane and Lewis Drive.

Please also note:

  • Drop-off zones to remain in front of the Emergency Department.
  • Additional accessible car parking and after-hours JMO parking will be available in front of the Mental Health Unit.
  • Pedestrian access to the Hospital’s temporary main entry will still be via the footpath on Lewis Drive.

Staff access to SSB & ASB

Due to recent rain, an exclusion zone remains in place between the Stage 3 construction site and the UNSW Rural Clinical School in Harvey House.

This means that pedestrian access to the Support Services (SSB) and Acute Services buildings (ASB) from the driveway off Docker Street will be closed until 7am Monday 31 August.

Please note:
• Staff will be able to access the SSB & ASB via the entry next to Medical Records or the entry near the Banksia Clinic.
• Cyclists who normally use the bike shed in this area can access a secure bike rack in the Stage 3 site compound. Please contact MLHD Project Manager – Redevelopment Kate Kennett on 0477 313 622 for details. • Patient Transport vehicles will continue to access the Transit Unit via a traffic control officer.
